Start with the same removal list
Two hauling quotes are useful only when they cover the same work. A price for the sofa beside your driveway is different from one that includes the sofa upstairs, boxes in the basement and shelving in the garage. Walk through every included area before comparing the totals.
For a Portland home or apartment, photograph the complete load and its current location. Identify the furniture, appliances and loose contents separately. Mark belongings that stay and tell each company about any remaining donation or buyer pickup. If someone removes part of the load first, request a revised scope.
- List every room, storage area and outdoor pile included.
- Show stairs, elevators, narrow turns and the distance to truck parking.
- Identify unusually heavy items and materials needing separate handling.
Compare the complete price, not just a starting number
Ask whether the quote includes carrying items out, loading, hauling and standard disposal. Check how difficult access, special handling, material weight and additional loads affect the total. A low advertised minimum does not establish the price of a full property cleanout.
At JunkPDX, photos can support a rough range. The crew reviews the actual load and access at a free, no-obligation onsite estimate. Standard household work is priced mainly by truck space, with weight, labor and special disposal considered. You approve the complete price before loading begins.
Check what a truckload means
Ask about usable truck capacity and weight limits when one quote is described as a truckload. Two companies can use different equipment or load limits. A bulky load and a dense load can take the same space while requiring different handling and disposal planning.
For several rooms or a whole house, ask for an estimate covering the complete project. Confirm the expected loads, included carrying and any separately reviewed items. Do not assume that one full-load price is a cap on a multi-load cleanout.
Separate the arrival window from the work deadline
Tell both companies when movers, cleaners, a delivery or a property handoff will occur. A two-hour arrival window describes when the crew arrives; it does not promise that a whole cleanout will finish in two hours. Loading restrictions or an elevator reservation should be reviewed before you rely on a schedule.
JunkPDX pickups run Monday–Saturday. For standard accepted items, the crew can haul during the estimate visit after price approval. Larger or specialty projects may require a separate work plan. Choose an available window and share the complete scope rather than selecting a truck size yourself.
Keep a clear record of what you approve
Before the first item is loaded, confirm the removal list, total price and any items excluded from the quote. If you add another room or discover a heavy item, have the change reviewed first. At the end, compare the cleared areas with the agreed scope and keep your receipt for reference.
