How to Plan an Office Cleanout While Staying Open

Plan staged office furniture removal around staff, shared elevators, loading hours and the areas your business still needs.

Before you plan the job

Can we remove old office furniture while the business stays open?

Ask JunkPDX about staged removal during an office refresh. Identify the furniture and rooms included in each phase, items staying in use, and permitted loading hours. We review access, requested timing, approved dismantling and likely loads before confirming service. A request does not guarantee uninterrupted operations or a particular time.

Step-by-step

A practical plan for the job.

  1. 1

Divide the office into approved zones

List each suite, department and storage area. Mark furniture that remains in use and identify which rooms can be cleared first without blocking staff access.

  2. 2

    Confirm the building requirements

Share elevator reservations, loading-dock hours, parking rules and vendor-document requirements before scheduling. Identify the building contact and the person who can approve changes.

  3. 3

    Prepare records and connected equipment

Remove confidential files and data-bearing devices from ordinary hauling unless suitable data-security arrangements are complete. Tell the crew about anchored furniture or utility-connected equipment before the estimate.

  4. 4

Agree on each phase and handoff

Review the approved inventory, dismantling, access and price for each stage. Allow space for staff and the crew to work separately, then check the cleared area before the next phase begins.

What affects cost

No truck-size guess required.

You don’t need to choose a truck size. Show us what goes. We’ll measure the load. Descriptions and photos help us plan, but are not a final quote. Price depends on truck space, weight, access, labor and special disposal. You approve the total before loading.

Common questions

Before you schedule.

Can you clear one department before the rest of the office?

Staged removal can be reviewed. Give each phase its own inventory, access details and deadline, and identify anything that must remain operational. Confirm the scope and timing before rearranging staff around the visit.

Do you dismantle desks or cubicles?

Describe the furniture and send photos before scheduling. Any dismantling must be reviewed and included in the approved scope. Utility disconnection and work on anchored systems are not assumed to be part of ordinary furniture pickup.

Can office pickup happen outside normal business hours?

Share your permitted loading hours and ask the crew to review a suitable time. Building access and crew availability must be confirmed; after-hours service is not automatically included or guaranteed.

What should we do with computers and confidential documents?

Remove sensitive records and arrange appropriate data destruction before releasing items for ordinary hauling. Disclose electronics during planning so acceptance can be reviewed. Junk removal is not a certified data-destruction service.

Can a facilities manager approve the cleanout?

An authorized facilities or property representative can coordinate the scope. Provide their contact details, suite list, invoice references and any requested completion records before scheduling.
