Make the next family's job easy
Keep instructions and essential pieces with each game or toy. Use clearly labeled containers for sets and distinguish decorative collectibles from children's play items. Ask family members about keepsakes before packing an entire playroom into the removal area.

Check identifiable products
Photograph brand and model information and use the CPSC recall search. Follow a matching recall's remedy rather than giving the item away. If you cannot identify a product well enough to assess it, do not present it as verified safe for reuse.

Confirm the receiving location
Use Goodwill's local donation-location finder as a starting point and ask about the actual toys. Do not assume every charity accepts toys or every location has space. A community group may want only a specific age range or type of set.

Separate rejects and batteries
Keep broken items out of approved donations. Identify electronic toys and batteries separately for the collector and ask about appropriate handling. For a larger household cleanout, show the full number of boxes and mark anything that must remain with the family.

Can you take the toy shelf too?
Include the shelf as a separate item with dimensions and access photos. Reuse approval for the toys does not cover the furniture holding them.
