Identify the frame type and every component that should leave: rails, slats, center supports, headboard and footboard. State separately whether the mattress or box spring is included. Wall beds, powered bases and anchored headboards need additional review before anyone starts taking them apart.

Photograph the assembled bed and record its size, material and storage features. Include drawers, under-bed bins and any detached components. A metal rail frame, platform bed and upholstered storage bed present different handling questions, so avoid describing everything simply as one bed.

Remove personal items first
Empty storage cavities and separate belongings. Keep the mattress supported safely, away from the exit route.

Check attachments before disassembly
Identify any wall anchors, floor attachments, electrical connections or powered adjustment components. A Murphy bed or other wall-bed system should receive specialist assessment because its support and lifting mechanism are part of the installation. Do not detach springs or unbolt mounted equipment as routine pickup preparation.

Keep ordinary components organized
If straightforward freestanding-frame disassembly is agreed and you can follow its instructions safely, photograph the assembly first. Bag compatible bolts and label slats or rails so the set remains identifiable. Do not pile loose screws where someone must carry the larger pieces. Leave difficult work for review.

Check reuse eligibility for the exact frame
Community Warehouse lists simple freestanding or platform frames without headboards or footboards; ReStore excludes bed frames. Confirm the current rules before transport. If the complete set has no recipient, ask about destination requirements for its actual materials instead of assuming every frame is recyclable.

You don’t need to choose a truck size. Show us what goes. We’ll measure the load. Descriptions and photos help us plan, but are not a final quote. Price depends on truck space, weight, access, labor and special disposal. You approve the total before loading.
Are the mattress and box spring automatically included?
No. Name them separately in the pickup request and share their condition so the full job can be reviewed.
Can I leave all the bolts attached loosely?
Avoid unstable partial assemblies. Ask how to stage components, keeping necessary hardware together for reuse.
