Empty every compartment
Empty every drawer and check hidden compartments for belongings. Identify any boxed contents separately in the pickup request.

Identify attachments without destabilizing it
Photograph the mirror supports and any anti-tip strap or wall bracket. Keep restraints in place until a safe removal sequence is arranged. A loose mirror, wall-mounted cabinet or built-in dresser needs separate attention; do not assume pulling the furniture away will safely release its attachments.

Describe drawer and cabinet condition
Mention stuck slides, missing drawers or loose joints. Do not force drawers or carry the unit by its handles. Ask whether removable drawers should be separated, and label their positions when preserving the dresser for reuse.

Account for unusual weight and fragile parts
Tell the crew about a stone or glass top, oversized mirror, solid-wood construction or a cabinet that is already partly dismantled. Do not try to lift an unknown top to find out whether it is attached. Accessible photos are enough to start the review.

Measure the route and preserve useful parts
Record the widest cabinet dimension and show doorway turns or stairs. Keep removed hardware and handles together for a possible recipient. Community Warehouse lists dressers subject to its condition rules; confirm acceptance before making transport arrangements or expecting a donation pickup.
