Measure the slab and identify the set
Record height, width and thickness. Say whether the frame, hinges, handle and any glass are included. Photograph both faces and the edges; holes, trimmed corners or a damaged bottom may affect whether another project can use it.

Separate installed and detached work
A door still securing the home needs an installation plan before it leaves. Arrange the replacement and appropriate removal work first. A hauling appointment should not leave an opening unsecured or remove hardware you need for the new door.

Request salvage acceptance
ReBuilding Center considers residential doors but excludes warped doors and certain damaged materials. Send the actual condition for review. Do not sand failing coatings or disturb questionable material just to improve the donation photographs.

Store it for safe collection
Keep detached doors stable, dry and away from paths. Show stairs and glass panels to the collector. List heavy solid-core doors separately from light hollow-core slabs, and keep approved hardware labeled so it follows the right piece.
