List dimensions, frame material and quantity. Photograph fogging between panes, missing hardware and damaged corners. Keep the condition descriptions tied to individual units so a recipient does not expect every window in the group to be alike.

Decide before the installer removes them
Tell the contractor which units may be reused and ask what intact removal would involve. Installation, weatherproofing and the disposal handoff should be clear. Do not delay securing the home while waiting for an unconfirmed donation answer.

Get item-specific approval
ReBuilding Center's window guidelines address pane condition and failing seals. Send photos before reserving transport. An organization accepting some windows is not promising to accept broken glass, heavily altered frames or every size from a large remodel.

Plan stable staging
Keep removed windows where they cannot fall into a walkway and disclose broken glass before collection. Ask the hauler about packaging and loading; do not mix loose shards into bags of wood scraps. Include upper-floor access and parking restrictions in the request.
