Identify the chair and its controls
Photograph the complete chair, brand label and remote or power supply. Note if it rocks, swivels, lifts or has more than one powered section. List separate cords and accessories with the chair. Do not assume a lift chair is interchangeable with a basic recliner for handling or donation.

Report the current position
If the chair operates normally, follow its instructions for the ordinary upright position and shutdown. If the footrest is jammed or the lift mechanism is stuck, leave it stable and describe the issue. Do not force the footrest closed or reach under a moving seat.

Treat removable backs as model specific
Some recliners have removable backs; others do not. Check the actual manufacturer instructions before releasing anything. Do not remove pins, springs or structural bolts on guesswork. Ask whether any simple separation is appropriate for pickup, and keep all permitted removable pieces together.

Show clearance beyond the doorway
Measure the chair in its present position, including an extended footrest if relevant. Photograph narrow passages, stair turns and the route from the room. Give advance notice of an upstairs chair, a sunken living room or a basement entry with low overhead clearance.
