How do I prepare an old stove or oven for removal?
Identify whether it is a gas range, electric range, cooktop or wall oven. Arrange qualified disconnection and any required extraction from cabinets before hauling. Share photos so the pickup estimate covers the actual appliance and access.

A freestanding range, double wall oven and separate cooktop are different moving jobs. Send dimensions and model information, and say whether the appliance is still installed. Include a photo showing the surrounding cabinets and floor.

Schedule gas or electrical work
Use an appropriate professional for gas-line or hardwired electrical disconnection. Explain the scope when requesting service. An appliance-hauling booking with JunkPDX does not establish that utility work is included; have that preparation settled in advance.

Resolve mounting and cabinet constraints
Ask the installer about anti-tip hardware, mounting brackets and built-in supports. Avoid pulling a range or heavy wall oven loose yourself. Confirm that extraction will leave the appliance stable and ready for the agreed moving route.

Remove belongings and loose accessories
Check the oven cavity and storage drawer for cookware. Tell the collector which racks, grates and accessories should travel with the appliance. Flag broken glass or sharp metal, and keep children and pets away from the staging area.

What affects cost
No truck-size guess required.
You don’t need to choose a truck size. Show us what goes. We’ll measure the load. Descriptions and photos help us plan, but are not a final quote. Price depends on truck space, weight, access, labor and special disposal. You approve the total before loading.
A confirmed recipient may want it. Share the fuel type, model and every known fault, and agree on transport. Do not describe an untested burner or oven as working.
Will a retailer take the old stove?
Ask the retailer arranging your replacement. Confirm the charge, installation conditions and whether a built-in unit is covered before relying on that service.
What if the stove is already disconnected?
Say so in the request, along with who prepared it and where it is located. The remaining work still depends on size, stairs and access to the truck.
